𝙅𝙤𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙡𝙡 My mind is blown. So very fine virtuoso metal album and boy does it tear open your emotional doors. This album packs everything: there's post-, there's gaze, there's second wave, there's dirt, there's classic heavy soloes, there's melancholy. Get this, you won't regret. Favorite track: Mortal Coil.

Nekobibu Wow. Just wow.
Since I didn't know anything about the band and I bought the album out of curiosity (NYP does that to me...), I wasn't expecting anything spectacular. Sweet Baby Jesus in a trashcan, was I wrong! This is brilliant, so many epic moments in these long songs... So many great riffs... And the overall flow of the music is so perfect! The mix of black and crust is so masterfully crafted!
RECOMMENDED! Favorite track: Mortal Coil.

karol tolstoy Violent, melancholic, passionate black/crust, with far longer songs than I expected and a desperate beauty to every second, be it the blastbeats, the guitar harmonics, or the shrieked vocals. 9/10 at least, certainly AOTY material Favorite track: The Third Door.

bcb723 Listen to "The Third Door" & ask yourself how a black metal-ish band can naturally reach three separate epic emotional peaks in one song? Pretty unreal start to the intense journey Dödsrit takes you across this record. It really doesn't drop off in focus at all from the beginning to the end of "Mortal Coil." Melodies hit from everywhere to the point of overload. At NYP this is obviously recommended to hear, if only for the hypnotic feeling of the entire album. Fucking godhead shit right here. Favorite track: The Third Door.

Drenched in blood | Shed my skin. Throw your bones | Into my tomb. Mend its guilt | To its cave. Leave this body | For it is frail. Darkened lips speak my language. My tender lungs implode from within. Wrap these pale fingers around my neck. To rot within this prison of mine.
Covered with the ash of all that we’ve burned Shapeless, they whisper treacherous words Once offering comfort in the static of time Once leading towards the cemetery in our mind Remaining hostile towards the past Once carried with broken hands Worn from clawing the ground of these shallow graves That once held the burden of all our mistakes There is no way back towards all that we left in the past When marching forward on this cold and lonesome path Leading us towards our shallow tomb Leading us towards the hell we call our home
Mortal Coil 08:36
Trembling words slip from my mouth. A warm breath soaked in guilt. Time pretends to heal my wounds. So I can wither from within and never heal. Forced down on shallow shores. Stuck in choices of neverending goals. Slumbering eyes denied their comfort. Lost in inception, hiding in a cloak of death.
On this trail of a thousand missteps, we carry the weight of neglect. And even through self-mutilation, I still haven’t found salvation. Melancholy was the hammer, and wanderlust the nails. They built this coffin, where I can rest on my own. I am sick of seeking comfort in my grief. I am tired of seeking horizons I can’t see. Let me rest here on my own, for there is no place where I belong. Maybe the depths will appreciate what I am worth.

Out from a concept of misery and suffering, our feeble and dying world is the subject of a new hymn to its demise.

“Mortal Coil” is Dödsrit's third full-length, featured on a yet short career though wholly filled with soul-drenching moments. Featuring four tracks, Dödsrit's "Mortal Coil" hails the smothering ashes of purgatory's flames by forging a wall of soultearing riffing, blistering belligerence conjoining melody with aggression, a genuine blaze of cacophony and heart-wrenching melancholy.

Consuming all in its path, this relentless maelstrom of grief finds its vision on the thunderous production - utterly powerful and blisteringly organic in all its dynamism. Such sonic virtues get sheerly enhanced by the lively rhythmic section and uncompromised ferocity. Whether on blastbeating outbreaks, D-beat infused vigour, or further atmospheric escapades, pulsing impulses carry an expression and sense of craftsmanship that amazingly translate emotions into cataclysmic beats.

Drenched in anguish, a scourged narrator of tragedies spews every single word with the blood and fiery distress of a heart burdened by the weight of our sorrowed existence, a shivering performance of a tongue absorbed in the (dis)comfort of eternal grief.

Out under the banner of Wolves of Hades on Vinyl & CD, and The Hell Command on Cassette, “Mortal Coil” is a eulogy to the world in flames - to the hell we call our home.
